The NEET 2024 eligibility criteria for medical aspirants are made available by the National Testing Agency (NTA) within the official information brochure, accessible at neet.nta.nic.in.

The candidates when applying for the examination should be 17 years or more. They need to provide a document proving the same. There is no upper age limit set by the Board.  

The candidates must also go through the following eligibility criteria:

  • Nationality

Indian nationals, Non-resident Indians, PIOs, OCIs, or foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the NEET examination.

  • Educational Qualification

The candidates must possess a 10+2 or equivalent educational qualification from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.

NEET 2024 Eligibility for Foreign Candidates

The candidates who have completed their schooling abroad and wish to take the NEET Medical Undergraduate examination have to fill the following NEET eligibility criteria

  • The basic age limit for the NEET Examination is 17 years
  • There is no mention of an upper age limit
  • The candidates must have passed their class 12 examination or possess equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution in their respective country. 
  • Candidates should have studied in the science stream with biology, chemistry, and physics as their subjects.
  • They must have cleared the theory and practical tests in these subjects in the qualifying examination
  • They should be well-versed in English and should have also cleared the same in the qualifying examination

What percentage is needed in the 12th grade for NEET eligibility?

For NEET 2024 eligibility, candidates must achieve specific pass percentages in the 12th grade. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has established these requirements: 50% for the unreserved category and 40% for OBC/SC/ST and PWD categories, in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology combined. This pass percentage criterion is determined by NTA. Additionally, candidates must have reached the age of 17 by December 31, 2024.
