About SARATHI:
- It seeks to simplify the insurance process for farmers by providing a digitized insurance support.
- It offers a single-window platform for viewing, purchasing, and availing insurance products.
- The platform will progressively roll out a variety of insurance products like personal accident and hospital cash policies, tractor, two-wheeler, livestock etc.
Why in news?
The Agricultural ministry has launched the SARATHI portal to assist insurance companies in reaching out to farmers and rural populations.
Other initiative launched: Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Developed in collaboration with the National E-Governance Division (NeGD).
- Objective: to provide farmers, insurance companies, Government officials, and participants in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), with skills needed for efficient crop insurance and agricultural credit.
