Computer Input and Output Devices

Functioning of a computer system initially depends on input and output devices of the computer. Thus, input and output of both devices work as an information system.

The computer primarily conducted all the digital and information-oriented work due to input and output devices. The input device is generally symbolized as the active class of partial and peripheral devices that initially connect to the peripheral device to provide the user with the actual content. The output device is initially considered the hardware device, which is used to send data from a computer to another electronic device. However, most of the output peripheral devices are primarily used for human use. Input and output devices example: keyboard, mouse, monitor and printer. The functioning of a computer system primarily provides more depth to various types of information.

Overview of the functioning of computer system

Functioning of computer systems comprises mainly four types, which include “input function”, “Processing data”, “Storing data” and “output function”.

  • Input function works efficiently and effectively which is regarded as the method of entering data type and instructions into the system of a computer by utilising the input devices to receive the signal of the user to the computer.
  • The processing function is mentioned as the second stage that represents the method and managing of the input data that is instructed by the user. The CPU takes the instructions and information from the input devices and acts on all calculation types based on the instruction provided.
  • Storage data function is considered the most important element for the accurate functioning of computer systems. RAM and ROM work efficiently to store the data and functions for better services.
  • Output is demonstrated as the last function, which means that the outcome generated by the monitor once CPU processing is finished is based on the instructions provided by the user. Displaying the important work that is done on the computer is the major function of output.

Input and output devices: Concept

Input and output devices permit the “computer system” to connect with the outer world by shifting the data “into and out of” the system. Input devices are referred to as equipment pieces that are utilised to give the control signals and data to the information processing system” like information or computer appliances. The main function of input devices is to permit the users to communicate and send different sorts of information. In the context of input devices, speech recognition is termed to be an input device because a person utilises it to transmit all sorts of necessary data.

Output devices are regarded as the piece of hardware equipment of the computer, which helps in converting the data into the form of human perceptible. Output devices are utilised historically into a physical form of machine-readable for the utilisation with other equipment that is non-computerised. Output devices help to translate the response of the machine to the utilisable form for the user of the computer. Output devices are extremely important as it gives information in myriad distinct forms. “Input and output devices” work efficiently through the information obtained from the user.

Input and output devices: Difference

Input device

Output device

The input device receives the information from the users

Output device displays the information on the user’s screen.

Input device works for transforming the instructions that are user-friendly to machine-friendly.

Output device works for translating the instruction of machine to user intelligible

The input device accepts the information from the user as input and forwards that information to the processor for further processing

The information that is processed by the processor is sent to the output device from transmitting it back to the user, which means that the output device conveys the processed information from the processor.

Examples of Input and Output devices

Examples of input and output devices include microphones, joystick, pointing devices, image scanners, keyboards and speakers, plotters, projectors, monitors respectively. The output device receives processing data from the computer and initially transforms it into a form of video, audio, and physical substances.

Conclusion

The input device is signified as an important aspect because it can allow the users to interact and add additional information to the electronic device called a computer. The output devices allow the user to communicate with other electronic devices. Hence it is primarily concluded that the input and output devices both are important to send the information-oriented signals to a particular device. The working process of different types of input and output devices idolizes the functioning of a computer system. Different types of output devices receive the important signals and primarily display the image output. Hence, the input devices are considered the human interface device, which is primarily represented as the layouts of informatics buttons.
