Hi Himanshu. What if the sentence is like this. To Do do well in exams not only you have to solve the question but also have to analyse the answer choices. If we just change the position of NOT ONLY. It seems to be structurally correct. How is NOT ONLY and BUT ALSO balanced in your answer? Kindly help me with the different possibilities( also the incorrect ones). Removal of have. How does it works in improvement?

For some reason I’m unable to play the lesson at my end. Please give me some time. But to help you at a concept level: Not only (X) but also (Y) is the correct idiom. And X & Y must be in parallel. So the right usage is: not only (you have to + Verb1) but also (you have to + Verb2) Or, You have to not only (Verb1) but also (Verb2) Verb 1 and Verb 2 must be in the same structure. Hope this helps!

Thank You. Much appreciated.
Hi Himanshu, In the first example about the film, there is 'the' before both acting and scene.Shouldn't there be a 'the' before music as well?

Since the acting part and the music part are separated by ‘comma’, a single ‘the’ takes care of the same. However, the usage of ‘and’ makes the usage of ‘the’ necessary for ‘action scenes’. But to answer your point more specifically, ‘the’ before music wouldn’t have harmed too.

If ellipses (removal of supporting verbs) make the sentence less verbose, without causing ambiguity, it is a more correct way to write a sentence.
