Mughal administration was robust and efficient enough to enable them keep their empire intact and fairly stable for more than 150 years. Apparently Akbar's administration was loosely based on Sher Shah's system but in reality, it had evolved over a period of time since the Ancient era through the Medieval period to attain maturity during the Mughal Period.
