  5. 1. RBI raises Rates The RBI on Wednesday cited inflation concerns as it raised interest rates for the second time in as many months by 25 basis points, setting its benchmark repo rate at 6.5% The increase will push up the cost of loans for all borrowers.

  6. Why increase in rates? - To contain retail inflation after it quickened to % ' n June WHY inflation increased? Mounting domestic and global uncertainties, including the volatility in crude prices.

  7. Repo Rate Repo rate is the rate at which the central bank of a country (Reserve Bank of India in case of India) lends money to commercial banks in the event of any shortfall of funds. Repo rate is used by monetary authorities to control inflation.

  8. 2.State Education Policy - The State's Higher Education Council has given in- principle approval to the Karnataka State Education Policy. Some of the recommendations in the policy, which were prepared by the Karnataka Knowledge commission. - Karnataka Knowledge Commission (Karnataka Jnana Aayoga) is a commission constituted in September 2008 under the Chairmanship of Dr. K. Kasturirangan.

A GI product is primarily an agricultural natural or a manufactured product (handicraft and industrial goods) originating from a definite geographical territory Initiative would help promote awareness and importance of GI products.
