  4. SLACK AND FLOAT Both refers to the amount of time by which a particular event or activity can be delayed without affecting the time schedule of project. Floats: I. Total Float:Total float of an activity represents the amount of time by which it can be delayed without delaying the project completion date. It is extra time available or an activity without affecting the completion of project. Tr = LFT-EFT If positive : resources are surplus and can be allocated for other activities If zero : resources arejust sufficient to complete the activity If negative : resources are not sufficient and activity may not complete in time EST EFT LST LFT

Independent Float: Independent float time of an activity is the amount of float time which can be used without affecting either the tail or head event.
