The citizenship amendment Bill 2016 deals with the amendments to the original Citizenship Act of 1955 and mandates that Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan will not be treated as illegal immigrants despite having entered India without valid documents. This Bill will be discussed in Winter session of the Parliament.
