Sketching rules of Root Locus: Root locus is symmetrical with respect to real axis of s-plane Root locus starts from poles (k = 0) and ends to zeros (k = ∞) of open loop gain G(s)H(s). Number of branches of Root locus is equal to the order of characteristic equation 1 + G(s)H(s) = 0. Or, No. of branches of root locus = maximum {no. of poles, no. of zeros} Root locus lies in the section of real axis, if total number of poles and zeros to the right of the section is odd.
