This lesson is about the immunoglobulin classes and their subtypes. There are 5 classes of immunoglobulins namely IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD and IgE. (GAMDE-for short is the decreasing order of their abundance) IgG is the most abundant and the one which crosses the placenta IgA is the secretory antibody and does not have the hinge region IgM is the first one to appear during primary response, do not have hinge region and is also found as membrane bound form. IgD is also found in membrane bound form IgE plays a major role in allergic reactions.
