The third course describes the structure of antibody. It also gives an account of the different characteristics of an antibody. This is a short lesson which helps us to easily summarize the characteristics of an antibody that it has two chains, light and heavy chain (which was experimentally proven).
Antibody is made of amino acids which rearranges themselves to bring in antibody diversity. The changes in the constant region gives rise to different classes of antibody like IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD and IgE. But changes in the variable region gives rise to different subtypes. The concentration of IgM is the most during a primary respose. But during secondary response it is IgG that acts more.
The fourth lesson is about the different classes of antibody or immunoglobulis and their important characteristics.
The fifth lesson is about the immune responses. It simplifies the matter that there are two types of immune responses namely humoral mediated as well as cell mediated immune response.

This is a simple lesson on the very confusing topic, types of immunity.I have also included their special features along with very common examples.

Types of Immunity

This lesson is about the structure of an antibody. Antibody has a Y shaped structure with 2 identical light chains and heavy chains. Both the light chain and heavy chain have variable as well as constant region.The light chain is of two types :lambda or kappa, where as the heavy chain is of five types:alpha -IgA, gamma-IgG,  delta-IgD,  epsilon-IgE and mu-IgM.They are variably present at different places and their mode of action also differs greatly. The variable end portion is called the N terminal region and the opposite end is called the C terminal region. The variable region has 110-130 amino acids whose changes results in diversity of the antibody. It is the variable portion that binds with an antigen and the other constant portion determines the biological activity.

Antibody Structure

This lesson is about the immunoglobulin classes and their subtypes. There are 5 classes of immunoglobulins namely IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD and IgE. (GAMDE-for short is the decreasing order of their abundance) 
IgG is the most abundant and the one which crosses the placenta
IgA is the secretory antibody and does not have the hinge region
IgM is the first one to appear during primary response, do not have hinge region and is also found as membrane bound form. 
IgD is also found in membrane bound form
IgE plays a major role in allergic reactions.

Antibody Classes and Function

This lesson gives an idea about the immune responses. 
There are mainly two types of immune responses, the first one is humoral mediated and the second one is cell mediated immune response. In humoral mediated immune response it is the B lymphocyte that plays an important role. When a B lymphocyte which has an antibody receptor on its surface comes across an antigen these gives rise to a clone of cells.A few of these becomes effector cells and the others memory cells.
Where as in cell mediated immune response it is T lymphocyte that plays an important role. They bind to antigens like virus, bacteria,fungus and parasites and also gives rise to a clone of cells. They also secrete lymphokines which help the cells to kill the target more efficiently.
