This lesson deals with a type of disorder known as Visceral Leishmaniasis. It begins with the laboratory diagnosis of it and the methods in which it can be diagnosed. The methods are demonstration of the parasite by light microscopy, demonstration of DNA in tissue samples and immunodiagnosis. It then throws light on the Leishmanin skin test, the inference of test and differential diagnosis. Lastly, it deals with the different kinds of treatment that can be given for this disorder.
