Another Name of this forest is Tropical Rain Forest Evergreen forests are found on the eastern and western slopes of the Western Ghats in states such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra They are also found in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh Nagaland, Tripura, Meghalaya, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands They are also found in hills of Jaintia and Khasi

The tropical evergreen forests are usually found in areas receiving more than 200 cm of rainfall and having a temperature of 15-30 degrees Celsius They occupy about 7% of the earth's surface They are found mostly near the equator within the area bounded by latitudes 23.5 degrees N and 23.5degrees S >These forests are dense and multi-layered. They harbour many types of plants and animals
