sir,i am a mechanical engineer,2016 pass out. i have given gate 2016 but didn't clear the cutoff and now i have also given gate 2017 and ies 2017 but both are not worthy. from gate i am expecting about 45-50 marks and in ies prelims 90 marks are coming. both of them are of no use because i desperately want to serve in top PSUs or top ies ranker. i had prepared by my own and presently i am in delhi and this will be last attempt for ies 2018 and gate 2018. so please please please guide me to mine destination. by the way you people rocks..just awesome..hats off to you people and roman saini sir..a revolutionary initiative by you all.

Nitish Thanks for appreciation...So by analyzing your present condition you are not new to the world of competition exam..And I can assess that your preparation is in between..It just need some confidence and a boost up. I will share my experience with you. Nitish when we want to achieve something big we have to break down our task into pieces. Sometimes trying for smaller things doesn't mean that we are compromising with our goals but we are moving towards our goals in more strategic way. This strategy varies with situation. In your case right now stop thinking for gate 2018 and ESE 2018. This season of competition exam have not ended yet. Try hard for coal India exam paper, BARC written exam and SSC Junior Engineer exam. By your present preparation and little bit practice you can easily crack this exams and if you are able to do that you will get so much confidence that your preparation speed will become 10 times which is at present..I was in same situation like you are and within 6 months the exams whose written I have cleared are SSC JE BARC CDS AFCAT SAIL RITES and what not..I hope you will execute what I mean..Then after this we will talk about GATE and ESE 2018.

Arun Sharma I appreciate your proactive approach. For any exam PSU SSC JE BARC NPCIL the syllabus is not mentioned exclusively more or less it's the same syllabus. It doesn't change. You can take the generalised syllabus. So just cover the subjects. Now conventionally more or less important topics or subjects are the same which are important for ESE and GATE. That donot vary largely. Production fluid mechanics will remain important forever. So prepar 7 subjects from 12 subject very well because 90℅ of the time they are most important.
Pawan Saini

Now coming to level of questions in BARC..So 100 questions will come which you have to solve in 2 hours. Paper would be online and calculator is not allowed. From last two year the pattern of all the exams are changing rapidly. It's not the same scenario which was earlier but for PSU and BARC you can keep a thumb rule. The questions are of medium level mostly. Neither too easy like sometimes asked in SSC Junior Engineer nor too tough like GATE. So they are generally like the level of ESE Objective paper. Previously they used to ask directly questions from GATE previous year paper..So practice what all the GATE questions available in the market and practice ESE Objective questions. The questions are conceptual they don't ask the scrap. So if it would be 1 line questions but it would be deep and conceptual. So keep ourself somewhere near medium level GATE questions.

sir according to u which seven subjects one should prepare well in mechanical
Pawan Saini
Refer my lecture conventionally important subjects in IES..In my course last minutes tips for ESE exam. It's no. 6 tutorial.. You will get those subjects..
Pawan Saini
And instead of going subject wise..Just try to solve 10 year ESE Objective papers and 10 year GATE Paper..That would be more effective..And from their refer theory for the topics in which you are not comfortable..As the time is less.. Solution of questions is also sufficient..The most important thing is that you have to cover 10 year paper at least..
Pawan Saini
And just througly go through the topics whose questions are repeating again and again...It will be more yielding for you..

Dear Please ask questions in fresh comment on any of the tutorial and best one to ask in Q&A section of this course which is just below review section..This conversation have become so long..I am worried you may trace it easily or not. That's why I am asking you to ask it separately in Q& A section.. Please do it quickly I will reply on that...

Dear Nitish Coal India exam is one of the easy and scoring exam. Their are basically two part in it. Technical and non technical... In technical part 100 questions will come. CALCULATOR IS NOT ALLOWED. The level of technical questions is medium. In 90 minutes you have to solve 100 technical questions. Means you will get less than 1 minute to solve each question. The questions are a cocktail of small numerical theoretical and conceptual questions.
Pawan Saini
To score well in this questions try to solve easy and simple theoretical questions in the very starting. If you find any long numerical try to skip it initially and mark it for last if you are left out with the time. Now what you have to study for technical part... The thumb rule to crack any of the technical paper is that you have to be master in the conventionally important 7 subjects which are important as per Engineering Services. Many times I have talked about those subjects in my lectures. You can refer my tutorial Conventionally Important subjects of Engineering Services. So prepair the very well.

Don't go in much numerical details. Try to cover theory and basic formulas. You can refer a boot practice set for PSU of Made easy publication. It's available online and hand book of Made easy. It can be finished in 10-15 days if you can devote 4-5 hours on it. But please don't go deep in numerical section. Just refer theory and your notes. Avoid bulky book. Try to cover summarised theory.

Now coming to Non-tech.. 100 questions.. 25 Maths& Aptitude.. 25 Reasoning 25 English 25 General Awareness.. So it's a tricky combination... For General Awareness PSU generally gives questions from a wide spectrum. They are not tough in nature but of scattered pattern. Cover GS from arihant general knowledge. Basic history polity geography and all the remaining basics can be covered from it. For current affairs you have to cover a summary of last 1 year current affairs..But don't refer bulky books..You cannot cover 12 pratiyogita darpan/ competition success. Refer made easy current affairs magazine. They are quite good for PSU exams. Finish quarterly and annual magazines. If you have already covered it from some other source then also it's okay.
Pawan Saini

No specific book for Reasoning and Aptitude. Just practice some previous year CSAT or bank PO practice papers. Try to solve 10-15 paper. The level of English in Coal India is not that high.. So referring any book at this point of time will not be worthy... While giving exam solve GA/ GS questions in very starting because at last you may not get enough time to solve it properly and it will consume very little time. So finish it up in well advance along with English and then jump into reasoning and Aptitude. You will be on the safer side.

Imran as aspirant should have the following educational qualification to appear in India Forest Services. Please check if you fall in this category or not. Candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognised university or equivalent.

Sir, I'm a 3rd year mechanical engineering student, sir please tell me in what all engineering exams other than GATE and IES can I fill up in 4th year
Pawan Saini
Dear Naman.. You can give 2-3 more exams like BARC, coal India... But if you follow my advice don't target any of the exams except GATE and ESE. GATE is the backbone if you want an awesome career in technical field...If you will get good rank from this one exam u can target 20-30 PSU and if you could make it in final in Engineering Services this gate score will give you multiple options to join a job..To do Mtech...To take drop... Everything you can do if you have good marks in GATE...So just leave everything and focus on GATE...If you can clear IES then nothing is better than that... So please just remove everything from your mind and focus on GATE..

Imran UPSC or any government firm are very rigid in eligibility criteria. If they have written Mathematics then it means Mathematics only nothing additional...You can directly call to UPSC and ask about it. I think chances of you being eligible is very less... But then also they have the last word.. But instead of wasting time on searching eligibility you should target civil services.. It's much more stronger than IFoS. I am suggesting you this because why to trap your self and your mind in such controversy...Just try to give your 100℅ in civil services...In your condition this option is much more easy and don't think that their is less competition in IFoS. It's prelims cutoff is also high..So just think about my advice.. Notification is already out.
