This course is in the Sociology Optional series. In this,we are going to cover the topics of Culture, Socialisation and Research methods. Beginning with what is culture, how does a layman define it and how does a sociologist define it,we move on to the role of Socialization in imbibing one's culture. Next we learn about the diversity in culture and what happens when culture is not universally the same. Next, we move on to study the dimensions of culture - Normative, Material and Cognitive. We then define Law, Norms, and complete all the topics related to culture. Then moving on to Sociology, we learn what is Socialization, how does it help one in fulfilling the various roles in society and how various agencies of Socialization help in one's experience in life. Next we will cover the problems in research methods and the reason why we don't have a standard research method in sociology. Then we study about the types of research methods, the need to use triangulation. in the methods of research,we will cover Participant observation, Surveys, and Interviews
