Ma'am, how we should designate a retired armed forces officer in face to face communication/mail ? Assume a civilian of age 21 is writing to him/her. For e.g. a) Col. Yashveer Singh Sir, b) Dear Col. Yashveer Singh, c) Respected Col. Yashveer Singh, d) Respected Col. Yashveer Singh (Retd.), e) Respected Col. Sir, f) Respected Sir, Which of the above will be most correct?
