  4. Terms Related to Boats and Sreams: Speed of the boat: It refers to the velocity of the boat in standing water let it be X. Speed of the Stream: It refers to the velocity at which the water flows, let it be Y.


  5. Terms Related to Boats and Sreams: Downstream: when the boat (or swimmer) moves in the same direction as that of the stream. Flow Of Stream D(Speed) = X + Y Downstream

If the speed downstream is D km/hr and the speed upstream is U km/hr, then: Speed in still water-1/2 (D + U) km/hr Rate of stream or current = (D-U) km/h
