  3. CELL The fundamental unit of life. . A cell is capable of independent existence and can carry out all the functions like nutrition, respiration, excretion, transportation and reproduction.

  4. Plant Cell Structure Filamentous cytoskeleton Smooth endoplasmic reticulum mall membranous vesicles Plasmodesmata Chloroplast Vacuole Mitochondrion (mitochondria) Ribosomes Plasma membrane Peroxisome Cell wall Golgi vesicles (golgi apparatus) Nucleolus Cytoplasm ucleus Nuclear envelope Leukoplast Rough endoplasmic reticulum

  5. Plant Cell: Structures and Organelles Cell (Plasma)_Membrane-a thin, semi- permeable membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm of a cell. Elastic, living and semi- permeable. Cell Wall - outer covering of the cell that protects the plant cell and gives it shape, composed of cellulose

  6. ant Cell: Structures and Organelles Plastids: are of three tvpes Chloroplasts (green), leucoplasts (white),and chromoplasts (of all colors except green.) " Chloroplast is called the kitchen of the cell, is site of Photosynthesis. " Leucoplasts are storage plastids.

  7. Cytoplasm - gel-like substance within the cell membrane contains water, enzymes, salts, organelles, and various organic molecules. .Nucleus: is known as the control centre of the cell contains the regulatory machinery responsible for all the activities inside the cel . It is the largest organelle in the cell and it contains the DNA of the cell. DNA contains all the information that helps cells live, perform their functions and reproduce. The nucleus has a double layered covering called nuclear membrane

  8. Plasmodesmata pores or channels between plant cell walls that allow molecules and communication signals to pass between individual plant cells. Vacuoles: is a membrane-bound organelle that stores solid and liquid contents. . Vacuoles are found in both animal and plant cells, but are much larger in plant cells. . Vacuoles are formed by the fusion of multiple membrane vesicles and are effectively just larger forms of these. The organelle has no basic shape or size; its structure varies according to the needs of the cell.
