Bryophytes are the first land plants but not a successful land plant. As the vascular bundles are absent in bryophytes their distribution is limited to moist and shady areas near the water bodies. These Bryophytes require water for completion of its life cycle and thus called as AMPHIBIANS OF PLANT KINGDOM.
