Hi, this lesson deals with the structure of Hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is mainly present in animal blood. However, there are plant and bacteria Hemoglobins also. This lesson deals with the animal Hb within Red Blood Cells of Blood. This is not a part of plant physiology but, I thought it would better to publish about Hemoglobin just after chlorophyll since both these pigment molecules are structurally quite similar i.e. both contain tetrapyrrol ring with a central metal ion. The oxygen transport mechanism has also been discussed in a brief way. Details will be covered in animal physiology course in coming days...
