This lesson highlights the basics of mechanical properties. It also gives an idea about manufacturing of products from two or more materials. Material selection process is one of the most important criteria while selecting a product because the efficiency of the product depends upon the durability and significance of the material that is used to create the product. Various classification of properties of material like mechanical properties, physical properties and chemical properties are discussed highlighting their significance in determining proper material for a specific function. The changes that might occur when an external environment is introduced to a material along with its chemical reactions are also discussed in this lesson. Precise classification of materials into metals, non metals are explained briefly with examples in this lesson.
