Answer: Himachal Pradesh is a state that has two capitals, Shimla and Dharamshala. Dharamshala was announced as the second capital to improve the lower-lying areas like Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur and Una. The benefits were given to the localities of these areas who had to travel a long way to Shimla for their work. Dharamshala is the winter capital, where Vidhan sabha is held in the winter sessions . In contrast, Shimla is marked as the summer capital due to its cool climate and scenic setting.
