Sartre is famous for the idea that 'Man is condemned to be free' an idea that runs throughout all of his writings. Existentialism is a humanism which refers to the approach emphasizing upon the existence of an individual as a 'Free' and 'Responsible' agent. By making use of this very approach Sartre delivered the lecture with the use of rhetoric to make a case to the public in 1946. He gave provisional responses to the charges labelled against existentialism.
