As per the revised scheme. the test will consist of two papers as below Number of Question Duration 1 Hour(09:30 AM to 10:30 AM) IST 2Hours(11:00AMto 1:00PM) TST Paper Marks 100 50 questions. All are compulsory 200-100 questions. All are compulsory Paper-I shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks. The questions which will be of general nature. intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidat wil primarily be designed to test reasoning ability. comprehension divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate Paper-Il shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. The upper age limit for appearing in JRF has also been raised by two years, i.e. from the existing upper age limit of 28 years to 30 years (the relaxation as earlier will remain same). The candidates who desire to appear in the test may see the detailed notification available on the website http licbsenet nic in from 01st February. 2018. Changes Big changes have been introduced in the pattern and eligibility criteria. Here are the major changes: 1. There will be 2 papers now, instead of the usual 3 papers. . 2. Paper 1, will be the general aptitude test that will put the candidate's teaching and general aptitude to test. The paper will be of 100 marks and will contain 50 questions of 2 marks each. The duration of this paper will be one hour. 3. Paper 2 is devised to test the candidates on their knowledge of the subject of their choice. This paper will be of 200 marks and will contain 100 objective type questions of 2 marks each. The duration of this paper will be two hours. 4. The age limit of JRF has been increased from 28 years to 30 years. The registration process for UGC NET 2018 will start from March 6. . .

8) This will comprise of following steps: Step I: The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks in aggregate of all three papers i.e. Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper -III for considering a candidate for the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor as given below PROCEDURE & CRITERIA FOR DECLARATION OF RESULT: Minimum Marks (%) to be obtained PAPER-I PAPER II PAPER -III 40% aggregate marks in all the three papers taken together | 35% aggregate marks in all the three papers taken together CATEGORY GENERAL OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PwD/SC/ST Step II: Amongst those candidates who have appeared in all three papers and cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates. Step III: The number of slots for eligibility for Assistant Professor only will be equal to the 6% of the candidates appeared in all three papers of NET. The subject-wise and category-wise distribution of slots will be calculated by using the similar formula as used for calculation slots of JRF as mentioned on the next page.
Public Notice University Grants Commission wishes to clarify that ealier qualifying criteria for UGC-NET Exa m involved qualifying top 15%, of those candidate s in each subject and category, who obtained the minimum required marks in paper-i, paper-lI & paper-II according to the category of the candidates.
