Doubt: Is the loan amount waived off paid from the exchequer? If yes, then how does it affect bank's lending capacity in future because one way or the other they will get back the amount lent (they get back from Govt. exchequer & not from the farmers

Bank may feel like farmers are taking loans and diverting the funds without going to repay.Nobody will give money free. This is applicable in the case of bank also. Banks also know that this kind of waiver may not happen in future - "election manifesto" Number of genuine farmers may reduce in future and banks may not be in a position to finance based on the type and acreage of crops as per SLBC/DLTC fixed rates. Moreover a defaulter is always a defaulter in records and even in cibil also. Bank personnel may not give much interest in giving fresh loans to once an NPA holder....
