What is a Solution? A solution is homogeneous mixture of two or more substances in which individual components loose their identity and cannot be seperated in pure form by simple methods.

A solution consisting of two components is called binary solution. Solvent The component which is present in large quantity is called solvent - Solute and the component which is small in quantity is called solute
Solubility Solubility is the maximum amount that can be dissolved in a specified amount of solvent at a specified temperature and pressure.
Solution of solids in liquids Solubility of a solid in a liquid:- It is defined as the maximum amount of the solid (solute) in grams which can dissolve in 100 grams of liquid (solvent) to form the saturated solution at the particular temperature.
Factors affecting the solubility of a solid in a liquid Nature of the solute & the solvent :-"Like dissolves Like" => The polar (ionic) compounds like NaCl dissolve in polar solvent like water. > The non polar (covalent or organic) compounds dissolve in non polar compounds like Anthracene dissolve in Benzene.
