no answer will be 144pm ,use this formula- r+ +r- =a/2 ,here r+=radius of cation & r-=radius of anion .

Confused in question no question 3 solid state. why 4r=√2a not used?

r+ + r- =a/2 is used because question is asking us about separately, cation radius or anion radius & about not radius combined. in all FCC structure like Back,kcl,mgo , use same formula when they will ask about cationic radius or anionic radius ,use a=√2a/4 when they are asking about only "radius".

avoid confusion ,use this for FCC type structure 1)r = √2a/4 when edge length is given,2) r+ + r- = a/2 ,when we need to find radius of cation or anion,3) r+/r-=1.414 ,when no edge length is given & they are asking us about radius of cation or anion .
