Since the advent of a right-wing leaned party in the government, secularism has become the centre point of debate and discussion. Left parties, main opposition and intellectuals have constantly been debating the existing danger on secular fabric of the constitution. This question has been set-up to examine aspirants’ basic understanding of secularism concept as envisioned in the Constitution and its comparison with the western secularism. Approach: Briefly explain the meaning of ‘Secularism’ in Indian context.
