In this lecture I have discussed production of torque in rotating machine and torque should be unidirectional in DC machines for that armature MMF and field MF should be stationary or we can say that the relative speed between both of them should be zero so that we get an unidirectional torque in DC machine for that we use a commutator that will make armature MMF stationary so that we get a unidirectional torque in DC machine.
