Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)is a premier research organisation which has been ranked among the world's largest publicly funded R&D bodies. University Grants Commission (UGC)is a statutory body of the Government of India that is responsible for coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India. Both the educational bodies conduct National Eligibility Test (NET) exam every year. The exam involves two certifications - NET (LS) and NET (JRF).The cut offs for NET-JRF are much higher than that of NET-LS. Qualifying for NET-LS will make you eligible to apply for teaching positions in Indian colleges and universities while qualifying JRF provides multiple benefits, such as: i) Eligibility for lectureship. ii) Exemption from PhD entrance exams. iii) Full financial support throughout your PhD.
