Beginning with the Theories and concepts of Demography, we will understand what is Demography precisely and what is the scope of the study. Next we will move on to where Demography originated and why is it so important for government to form policies for The population. Next we will cover the very important Malthusian Policy of Population growth and how far is it applicable in today's time. Also we will cover the Theory of Demographic Transition, and then move on to define Birth Rate, Death Rate, Growth Rate of Population, Fertility Rate, Total fertility rate,  Maternal Mortality Rate, Infant Mortality Rate, Life expectancy, Sex Ratio, Dependency Ratio. Next we will understand the pattern of population growth in India starting right from colonial times. We will then learn about the Age structure and sex ratio of Indian population. Then we will talk about the need to save girl child and what is the performance of Indian states towards the aim. We will then together ponder over the fact whether poverty coax people to kill their female child. And what are the other social factors contributing to the falling sex ratio. We will then cover important Government interventions - Pre Natal Diagnostics Act, 1994 and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. We will then learn about the well known topic of Knowledge economy, and the way the trend of India is from Rural towards Urban. we will understand the reasons behind this trend. We will then learn the Population Policy of India before emergency, during Emergency and after Emergency
