  5. About ESE A combined three-stage competitive examination (comprising five tests), called the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is conducted by the UPSC for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services. Indian Engineering . The Examination is conducted for four branches: 1. Civil Engineering (CE) 2. Mechanical Engineering (ME) 3. Electrical Engineering (EE) 4. Electronics & Communication Engineering (EC)

  6. Examination Pattern It is a three stage Examination consisting tests of total 1300 marks. Stage 1 (Prelims) There will be two papers. Both are MCQ based. One is General Studies and aptitude paper of 200 marks second is Engineering discipline paper of 300 marks Total marks for Stage 1 are 500. Stage 2 (Mains) Two papers are there of written type. Both are Technical (Engineering discipline) 300 marks each paper hence total marks 600

  8. GATE vs ESE (Genral Difference) ESE GATE . It is three stage examination. . Can join in Central Govt Dept. like . Objective, Discriptive exam along with Objective and numerical type online o General studies is also part of exam Single stage exam. . Online mode. . Can join Institutes for Higher studies Offline mode. Railways, CPWD, CWD, BRO, MES etc...iklSc, IITs or can join PSU for job Personality Test Relatively tougher exam Only technical part included . Relatively easy

  9. ESE vs GATE (General Doubts) Doubt Is it possible to prepare for both the exams simultaneously Ans - Yes, absolutely possible. Many students had already tried this with a great success.lt is even advisable to prepare for both exams due to following advantages: majority of the techical syllabus is same (ESE>GATE) probability for success increases:-) MORE OPTIONS

  10. ESE vs GATE (General Doubts) Doubt - I wanted to start for ESE, but most of my friends have turned up for GATE as it seems to be easy choice. Should I still go with ESE? i'm just doing what the other ones are doing Ans.- It is the most common doubt students have while preparation. In my opinion ESE should be choosen, since If you prepare for ESE then GATE syllabus is automatically covered (almost). GATE is single stage exam, I call it as single shot exam.If missed, nothing can be done.In ESE there is chance to improve in each stage.
