After the sepoy mutiny of 1857, East India Companies administration was declared inefficient and was abolished. Now it's powers were transferred to British Government. There was also reintroduction of decentralisation of legislative and executive powers to provinces. There were initiatives to form responsible government which shall be formed by Indians. Subsequently after World War -2 India was granted independence and declared as sovereign nation.
