Origin of the Name- HIMACHAL The state name is originated from Sanskrit words- 'Him' means snow and 'achal means land/ abode This name is given by Acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma. . He is one of the state's eminent Sanskrit scholars.
Why Devbhoomi? . Devbhoomi means Land of Gods' People amazed why Himachal is known as land of Gods? The land of snow has more than 2000 temples, with almost every village having one temple besides community Devta (Deities) No fair and festival is complete without Deities who travel in palki. . The temples of Himachal are both the holy places and tourist spots.
