Topics . Components of Communications Communication Process Sender / Encoder .Receiver
Components of Communications Sender/encoder Noise Message Receiver/decoder Channel Feedback Context
Communication Process 1. A sender encodes information. 2. The sender selects a channel of communication by which to send the message. 3. The receiver receives the message. 4. The receiver decodes the message. 5. The receiver may provide feedback to the sender.
Sender/Encoder One who wishes to convey an idea or concept to others, seek information, or express a thought or emotion. . Sender also need to encode her message. . Transforming the thoughts of the information to be conveyed in words, voice, video and texts etc.
Roles of Sender . Selecting the type of message .Analysing the receiver Using the viewpoint " Encouraging feedback Removing communication barriers
Receiver/Decoder The receiver is the listener, reader, or observer i.e. the individual (or the group of individuals) to whom a message is directed. Another name for receiver is audience or decoder. *Must able to decode the message means mentally processing the message into understanding.
Failure in Decoding If the receiver can't decode, the message fails. .E.g. Sending a message in a foreign language that is not understood by the receiver probably will result in decoding failure.
Roles of Receiver . Receive . Understand .Accept . Use Give a Feedback
