Chap2 : Sectors of the Indian Economy - part 3
Thank you Ms. Prakash for that wonderful lesson. A doubt of mine from one of the previous classes (regarding the Primary, Secondary & Tertiary Sectors) was left unanswered, so if you could kindly guide me. Which category would you classify a restaurant (McDonalds, for example) into - Secondary Sector (because it produces its goods by using agricultural raw materials) or Tertiary Sector (because it provides food services) ???? Awaiting a kind reply. Thank you. :)

As far as I understand, it should be categorised as both secondary and tertiary, for the reasons you have cited above. but of course in calculating GDP, only once the value would be considered, so how does the government categorise them while calculating GDP isn't known to me. I will try finding that out soon, and if I get any proper answer, will get back to you !

Hospitality comes under Service sector thus McDonald's must lie in tertiary sector.
