  4. OBJECTIVES: To provide coverage and financial support to To stabilise the income of farmers and ensure . To encourage farmers to adopt innovative and farmers in the event of crop failure their continuance in farming modern agricultural practices To ensure flow of credit to the agriculture sector


  5. Implementation . Follows area based approach i.e defined area for each crop and risk associated with it Fundamental area for assessment of crop loss- villages( in previous schemes- block/mandal were the unit for assessment) . All the crops notified by the govt will be covered Notified area is decided by the state govt There is no cap on premium/reduction of sum ensured, there will be prompt and easy settlements within a fixed duration.


  6. Technology will be used for assessing crop loss through remote sensing & smartphones. There will be one Insurance company covering entire state, localised crop loses are also covered . Post-harvest losses are also covered. . AIC Agriculture Insurance Company- main Insurance provider; private insurance companies are permitted. . Ministry of Agri-nodal implementing agency. . Choice of Private Insurance Company is left to the state's choice.


  7. . Settlement of Compensation- Through . Losses due to cyclone & unseasonal rainfall is . Prevented sowing is also covered where farmer's account. covered for the entire country. farmers are not able to sow seeds due to deficiency of rainfall; loss at germination level due to low rainfall/soil conditions.


  8. . The subsidy in insurance will be borne equally by Centre & State's service tax liabilities have been exempted. The farmers availing credit through crop loans or kisaan credit card are compulsorily enrolled in this scheme.
