This lesson has a brief section on types of farming followed by the cropping pattern in India where the three cropping seasons - Rabi, Kharif and Zaid are discussed. Further there are small sections on technological and institutional reforms, contribution of agriculture to national economy, employment and output and food security. Thereafter there is detailed description of different kinds of crops- food crops ( grains and others ) and non food crops.
