Fill and Submit DAF II Form
- Candidates that have been selected to attend the Personality Test will need to go online to complete the formal process through the UPSC Portal. During this time candidates are expected to confirm their educational qualifications and submit any relevant supporting documentation as well as make updates to their personal information where needed.
- The Commission usually allows 15 days following the publication of the official results of a candidate's exam to make necessary changes. It is essential for candidates to adhere to the requirements and deadlines outlined in the Commission's official notice.
Start Interview Preparation
After you qualify for the Main Examination, you will need to prepare for your UPSC Personality Test. You can use these tips to prepare for your test:
- Detailed Application Form (DAF) and personal background.
- Educational qualifications and work experience.
- Home state, district and graduation subject.
- Current national and international issues.
- Optional subject and important Mains topics.
- Situational and opinion-based questions.
Candidates must concentrate on developing their ability to communicate effectively, present a variety of perspectives, and express ideas clearly. Instead of trying to memorize what they have prepared, candidates need to be able to use their own knowledge and experience to respond to questions.
Track Official Notifications
Candidates should regularly check the UPSC website for updates regarding:
- DAF-related instructions and deadlines.
- Personality Test schedule.
- Interview e-Summon Letter.
- Document verification requirements.
- Travelling allowance instructions, wherever applicable.
- Missing a critical date for your application process could result in loss of your eligibility for the position, therefore, you must base your decisions upon formal notifications from the organization and not the unofficial posts that appear in social media.
What If UPSC Mains 2026 Not Qualified?
- If your roll number does not appear on the Written Exam Result PDF, then you will not be selected to attend the Personality Test during this examination period.
- The results should be viewed as an opportunity to assess our preparation and determine which areas need work.
Candidates can review their preparation in terms of:
- GS answer-writing quality and presentation.
- Optional subject performance.
- Essay structure and content.
- Time management during the examination.
- Use of examples, facts and relevant data.
The individual scores of each candidate are made available by UPSC at the end of the examination. Candidates can review their scores and cut-off criteria to determine how well they did, and what needs to be improved upon for a future attempt.
UPSC Mains Selection Trend: Stage-wise
- The first phase of the civil service exams is called the preliminary exam, followed by the main exam, and then finally the personality test. As each phase of the examination takes place, the total number of applicants who are accepted to continue with the next phase will decrease.
This provides an indication of how large the prior exam period was, and what the size of the 2026 Mains shortlist will be.
