International Affairs refers to all the affairs going on between or among states, and refers to all the problems or development that happens internationally. Example of International affairs is the involvement of NATO in the Russia and Ukraine war type situation.

  • Helps in understanding the problems faced by the world and finding out the solution to face them. E.g. global warming, terrorism, etc.
  • Helps in seeking international cooperation. 
  • Helps in encouraging peaceful relations, avoiding propaganda, armaments, etc.
  • Ensures and builds proper economic relations between international communities. 
  • Understanding and promoting human culture through international exchange.
  • The importance of international relations in a globalized society.

 We can get information on national and international current affairs by keeping an idea of what’s happening in the world or our country through newspapers or magazines. Some of the well-known newspapers are:

  • The Hindu – which was started in 1878 and was released weekly. It is the newspaper on which people rely as they have confidence because this gives point-to-point information. 
  • The Indian Express–began as an English newspaper that was published daily in India. The first publication happened in 1932.
  • Business standard–as the name implies it has mastery in business. It gives proper and perfect information relating to business.

  • Yojana–it is released every month and is a government magazine specially made for aspirants studying IAS. Its focus is on the social-economic issues of the country.
  • Kurukshetra–it is also released monthly and is a government magazine. It deals with the information of rural India and is published by the ministry of rural development. 
  • Down to earth–this magazine focuses on topics like health, economy, environment, etc. it provides all the information and some facts about Indian society.
