HOME PRODUCTS WITH ACIDS, BASES & SALT

In our daily life chemistry plays an essential role contributing to the role of sustenance of mankind that constitutes the usage of several products.

This study effectively introduces the applications of chemistry into our day to day life through the usage of several products that constitute cooking, various medicinal purposes, and products associated with cleaning. Before delving into the study, we need to have a vivid knowledge about the organic substances of acids, bases and salts and as well as their respective properties. Both in the world of microscopic and macroscopic the necessity of acids, bases and salts are indelible. The elements that have characteristics of acids, bases and salts cater to an innumerable number of reactions that are happening each day. Moreover, it needs to be noted that human life consists of several acids and bases and these acids and bases help in maintaining a proper balance. The balance in the pH level is crucial as it helps in maintaining a healthy system within an individual and the healthy ratio for pH is 70:30 determining the alkaline to acid.

Main body

Understanding of Acids, bases and salts

Delving into the study, one needs to be aware of the definitions that will help in determining what are acids, salts and bases and as well as their properties. In various fields, several applications of acids, salts and bases are noticed such as in the field of agriculture, medicinal purposes, and homely usages. Acids are mainly inorganic elements that have a pH level less than 7 and bases are elements that display their pH values which are above 7.

What are acids and bases?

Chemically defined, acids are inorganic substances that liberate or give away the protons or ions of hydrogen and thereby, accept electrons. On the other hand, bases are substances that actively react with acids and neutralize the acids, thereby, reacting with ins of hydrogen.

Properties of acids and bases

Several properties of acids and bases are noticed, such as acids are sour in taste and the bases are bitter in taste. Furthermore, the texture of the acids seems to be quite sticky in nature whereas the bases have a texture that is slippery. It is quite interesting to notice that there lies no smell for the bases whereas the acids generally “burn the nose”. Acids react with metals and bases react with “fats and oils”.

What are strong acids and bases?

Examples of some strong acids are as follows,

  • Hydrochloric Acids (HCl),
  • Nitric Acids (HNO3),
  • Hydroiodic Acids (HI),
  • Hydrobromic Acids (HBr) respectively.

Examples of some strong bases are as follows,

  • Potassium Hydroxide (KOH),
  • Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH),
  • Strontium Hydroxide (Sr(OH)2),
  • Calcium Hydroxide

Application of acids and bases in our daily lives

Several incidents are acknowledged for the application of bases and acids to our lives. First and foremost, the product we use that has bases in it is toothpaste, which has “Sodium Fluoride (NaF)” in it. Sulphuric acids are used in car batteries, in cleaning products. Furthermore, in agricultural notions also the uses of Sulphuric acids are quite evident. Tartaric acids are used as a flavouring agent and also as food preservatives. “Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)” is used in products that are associated with bathing products. In addition to these, “Magnesium hydroxide” is used in the neutralizing of gastric acids and is also used as a deodorant antiperspirant.

How do acids and bases affect our daily lives?

Coming to this far in the study, it is evidenced that the incorporation of acids, bases and salts provide enough significance and rate a huge impact on human beings. This helps in providing a determinant in the entire digestive system. Moreover, the medicinal functions depend on the inorganic and organic compounds. In cleaning products that we use helps in protecting us from the deadly diseases. In addition to these, the pH balance is maintained with the help of these chemical elements.

Conclusion

In concluding the study it needs to be noted that effective exploration has been conducted on the products that are associated with bases, acids and salts and are respectively used in our daily lives. On conducting the study it is as well noticed that the organic elements of bases and acids are indispensable in maintaining our daily lifestyles. Moreover, it is as well noticed that these organic elements assist a being to conduct a better lifestyle. Names of products are also mentioned such as toothpaste, several medicines, in the field of agriculture and many more.
