ACIDS, ALKALIS, BASES AND SALTS ,A SUMMARY

Acid is considered to be a compound having different properties, can be dissolved in water, and has a pH of less than 7.

Introduction

This particular topic deals with the subject of Chemistry and the particular study of this topic is based on Acids, alkalis, bases and salts. In this field, NaCl is a factor of discussion and it is also called Sodium Chloride (NaCl). This field of study also describes different acidic elements, and the aspect of Alkalis is also defined here. Different properties of acid are described here and it is the characteristic features of these properties.

Body

What is acid?

Acid is a substance having particular chemical properties and these properties help in turning blue litmus into red. It has neutralizing alkalis and dissolves some of the metals, and this is a kind of liquid that is sour in taste. On the other hand, it can also be said that acid is a species or a molecule that can accept an electron pair or can donate a proton. In this acidic field a pH, less than 7 can be seen. Different properties of it say that it is sharp-tasting or sour in taste. It promotes the chemical reaction; it also reacts with bases for the formation of salts, for liberating hydrogen reacts with some metals. It has the power to change blue litmus paper into red, and in the water solution, it tastes sour.

Acidic elements

There are different types of elements that acid can acquire and the contents of it can say aluminum oxide is an acidic oxide. Vanadium oxide, iron oxide, phosphorus, silicon oxide, chromium oxide are also different elements of acid. Properties of acid in this field says that-

  • The chemical formula starts with an ‘H’

  • Can turn blue litmus paper into red

  • Reacts in acid-base

Therefore, the general sense of acid properties or elements says that it will always be in a water solution. It has the characteristics of reacting with acid bases or alkalis for making water and salt.

Acids example

Acid is an element or compound that has a pH base of less than 7 and can dissolve in water. In this field, different examples of acid can be seen such as lemon juice is an example of acid, and it contains citric acid. HCl or hydrochloric acid, H2SO4 or Sulphuric acid are different examples of acid. Vinegar is an example of acid-containing ethanoic acid in it. Therefore, the idea can be drawn that different particles have different acidic elements. Examples of acid in this field denote the matter that different acids have different bases.

NaCl

NaCl means sodium chloride is a mineral substance that has importance in everyday human life. This is also known as salt and is considered to be an essential compound that the body uses for absorbing nutrients. NaCl can be used for maintaining blood pressure and also helps in maintaining the right balance of fluid.

What is meant by Alkalis?

Alkali is a matter of substance or called the bases that have the ability to dissolve in water. It has a specific pH of more than 7, and it can be corrosive. Having the availability of dissolving in water, it can turn litmus paper blue.

  • The chemical formula can generally end with -OH

  • Reacts with acid

  • Strong alkalis turn purple

Different examples of alkali can be seen in this field such as bleach, ammonium hydroxide, and sodium hydroxide. These are the properties and examples of Alkali and it has different characteristics.

Acid bases

The acid-base is considered to be the substance that can neutralize an acid. Lime, copper oxide, washing powder, ammonia, and sodium hydroxide are different examples of bases that can help in the neutralization of acid. Generally, it can be seen that compounds contain metal, but it does not always work just like ammonia is a metal but it does not contain metal. This substance may or may not dissolve in water, and in this field, the matter can be said that when a base dissolves in water, then it is called alkali. The properties say that base reacts with acids for the formation of salt and water, and this process is called neutralization.

Conclusion

Acid is the main matter of discussion in this study and it denotes the fact that acid is a particular substance that can dissolve in water. This particular substance has the proper characteristics of turning blue litmus into red and it is called the matter of property off the field. In this study base of acid, alkali, examples of acid clear the matter that acid has an important place in the field of chemistry. This is the field having the property that says that the chemical formula of it starts with H.
