A computer virus is a malware function that spreads several types of virus code to several computers to multiple applications and programmes.

  • ILOVEYOU – $15 billion

 This virus has been sent as a text file but it infects all the emails of the receiver computer system. This computer virus was invented in 2000 and caused $15 billion in total.

WannaCry – $4 billion

This is a ransomware virus that was invented in 2017. According to the research, it has been found that almost a total number of 150 countries have been affected by this virus. 

  • Code Red – $2.4 billion

Code red virus was observed in 2001. This is a worm type virus that affects 975,000 hosts in total.

These viruses slow down the functions of the computer and the system takes much more time to load than usual. People are unable to connect through the internet for performing their tasks as well as it also causes disruptions in the case of performing high-level control. However, several minds of online applications assure that viruses are cleaned up. Nevertheless, they are not that efficient in the case of performing those tasks; the owner is unable to remove those viruses from their systems. Viruses are able to reproduce themselves and spread from programme to programme. As a result, they have unwanted crashes in programmes 

3.4 Process to mitigate these computer viruses

There are several types of features and functionality available in the market that helps one to protect the computer system from virus attacks. One has to go through research in this process and use possible resources and information to have less threat. Those processes are as follows- 

  • Usage of antiviruses and firewalls

  • Through updating the browser system security

  • Downloading software from trustable websites

  • Delete several spam messages

  • Update the antivirus protection of a computer system
