The Indian Post Department had recently invited online applications from eligible candidates for the post of GDS, i.e., Gramin Dak Sevak. The GDS recruitment is notified for a particular state or UT every two years. For the year 2021, the recruitment notification came live in January.

The Indian Post Department will select the applicants for the GDS post in the following ways. The GDS selection process involves eligibility criteria and correct online applications submitted based on Matriculation certificate marks; Merit List will be prepared from the received online applications. Following are the selection criteria of the GDS Post-
- GDS selection will be made from the automatically-generated list of candidates.
- The 10th marks obtained by candidates must be recognized by the approved board and should be aggregated to the percentage having accurate four decimals at the time of final selection.
- Candidates should apply for the post with academic marks only. Any candidate who has uploaded the grade from their application will be subject to disqualification.
- If the SSC or 10th standard list have points or grades, the marks shall be calculated by converting the points or grades with a multiplication factor of 9.5/ grade like that of 100.
- If some candidates have obtained the identical marks, then their selection will be made as follows-
- DOB – (high age as merit)
- ST female
- SC female
- OBC female
- EWS Female
- UR Female
- ST Male
- SC Male
- OBC Male
- EWS Male
- UR Male
- Candidates who applied for more than one post according to the online engagement cycle will be selected based on circle and preference. Applicants should be careful while making the choices.
- If an applicant selects five posts and is shortlisted as worthy in multiple positions, then the post arranged in a preference order shall be accessible to the candidate, and their candidature for the rest of the posts will be lost. Likewise, if a candidate or applicant connects at any selected bar, the remainder choices will no longer be available. If an applicant has filled an application for multiple circles, only one position per circle shall be offered to them.
- Any application comprising incomplete data or a false document will be instantly rejected.
