Knowing the weightage of chapters in the NEET syllabus helps students plan their preparation effectively. There are varying patterns in Physics, Chemistry and Biology questions, therefore students must prepare accordingly.
National Testing Agency (NTA) does not publish official chapter weightage in the NEET syllabus. The amount of questions that appear from every chapter each year may vary, which makes old question papers an indication of the important chapters but not a sure prediction of NEET 2027.
The most recently published version of the NEET syllabus is NEET UG 2026 syllabus. This version can be referred to while preparing for NEET until the NEET UG 2027 syllabus gets released.

Physics is considered to be an arduous subject because it incorporates conceptual comprehension and mathematical computations and numerical problems solving. It is important to understand key concepts before attempting complex questions.
Looking at the analyses of past year questions, topics such as Mechanics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics and Modern Physics require regular effort.
The following table highlights important Physics topics based on previous-paper trends. The priority labels are preparation guidance, not official NTA weightage.
| Chapter / Topic | Class | Preparation Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Physics and Measurement | 11 | High |
| Kinematics | 11 | High |
| Laws of Motion | 11 | Medium |
| Work, Energy and Power | 11 | High |
| Rotational Motion | 11 | High |

Regular practice is the key to succeeding in Physics preparation. Students must constantly practice solving numerical problems and equations instead of waiting for the last revision time.
Chemistry can be divided into Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. Each branch has a different way of studying it.
Physical Chemistry deals with numbers and concepts, Inorganic Chemistry emphasizes properties and trends, and Organic Chemistry is all about reactions and their mechanisms.

Students should use NCERT as a core resource and refer to the official syllabus to ensure that their preparation covers the prescribed topics.
Biology constitutes the largest part of the NEET paper as it has 90 questions in total and 360 marks as per the NEET 2026 examination format. It comprises both Botany and Zoology and covers questions based on the concepts, diagrams, biological processes, terms, and factual information.
With Biology making up 50% of the total NEET marks, students are advised to focus more on NCERT-based study material, revision and practice questions.

Note: The tables are intended as a preparation-priority guide. The official syllabus and chapter names should always take precedence over older chapter lists, particularly where syllabus units have been revised or combined.
Students can practise using Unacademy's NEET chapter-wise previous-year questions.
A breakdown of the weightage of each chapter will assist students in determining where their study priorities should lie, but it shouldn’t decide what chapters can be ignored. A topic that hasn’t been asked often in past years can very well show up in NEET 2027.
Use the following approach:
For a more structured preparation approach, students can explore Unacademy NEET UG courses and the NEET Preparation Toolkit.
It is vital to know about the examination pattern before starting the chapter-wise preparation. The examination under the NEET UG 2026 pattern consists of 180 required multiple choice questions which must be completed in 180 minutes.
| Subject | Number of Questions | Maximum Marks |
