Contraception: temporary and permanent methods

The use of artificial techniques and methods to prevent pregnancy is called contraception. Contraception acts as a barrier to pregnancy by which the ovulation is stopped by pills. There are also other methods like the usage of condoms that can prevent pregnancy. However, this can be said that these methods are temporary methods for preventing pregnancy. The permanent method to prevent pregnancy includes surgeries like vasectomy and tubectomy in males and females.

The use of contraceptives is growing day by day due to the fact of avoiding unwanted pregnancy. It acts as a healthy method of having sexual intercourse. The increase in the rate of population is needed to be taken into consideration. This process can be done with the contraceptive measures taken by males and females to avoid pregnancy. The invention of various permanent and temporary methods of contraception has been effective in avoiding pregnancy. This as a result helped in maintaining economic sustainability as well. In the current days, the governments and NGOs are also providing free contraceptives to the population of the country to keep the population of the country balanced. 

Meaning of Contraceptive

Contraceptive includes making use of different kinds of techniques and procedures to avoid pregnancy due to the act of having sexual intercourse between a male and a female. The contraceptive helps in creating a barrier to the fertilization of the ovum cell that is present in the ovary of a female. It has acted as one of the best methods of preventing pregnancy. 

Consequences of using contraceptives

Unwanted pregnancies are avoided with the use of contraceptives by individuals. This factor also helps in maintaining economic sustainability as the more amount of population would cause many economic problems. India is a country that has a huge population. Therefore, the government is taking the initiative to make sure that every individual in the country is provided with sex education and contraceptive method knowledge. The larger population would cause economic problems like poverty, unemployment, and many more problems. 

Methods of contraceptive

There are many methods of contraception. These include both temporary methods and also the permanent method of contraception. 

Temporary contraceptive method 

Temporary methods of contraception include using Condoms, contraceptive pills; contraceptive injections (DMPA), IUD- copper T, LAM, and also emergency contraceptive pills. There is a need of consulting with the doctor regarding family planning and deciding which method is better for contraceptive purposes. Temporary contraceptives are used when family planning is not yet done and there is a need to postpone pregnancy. The temporary method of contraception can be used for a certain period, and later on, when there is a requirement for pregnancy, this method can be stopped. Condoms act as a thin sheath to act as a barrier and prevent pregnancy. Contraceptive pills consist of hormones that stop the ovum of the female from fertilizing. Injections are used by injecting hormones that prevent pregnancies. LAM method is used after birth in which the lactational amenorrhea method is used to prevent pregnancy. This method can only be used for the short term. Copper IUDs – it is one of the effective methods of contraception. This method includes the use of copper intrauterine devices that can prevent pregnancy even after having unprotected sexual intercourse within five days. 

Permanent contraceptive method

Permanent contraceptive methods include permanent contraception. The permanent contraception once done can never be changed and pregnancy will never occur to the couple who has done it once. The most common method of permanent contraception includes vasectomy, tubal ligation etc. This method includes doing surgery on the reproductive organ of the individuals by which pregnancy will be stopped permanently. Essure includes implanting a device in the reproductive organ of the female by which pregnancy can be stopped. Vasectomy on the other hand is a contraceptive method that is done on a male individual. In this method, there is a surgery done in the vas deferens of the male reproductive organ by which the movement of sperm cells will not occur while having sexual intercourse. The tubectomy procedure includes surgery in the fallopian tube of the female individual by which ovum cell will not be fertilized to cause pregnancy. 

Meaning of contraceptive in Hindi and Needs of contraception knowledge

In the language Hindi, Contraceptives are called “garbh nirodh”. All the individuals of the country need to have proper knowledge about contraception and sex education along with family planning. This factor will make sure that every people are having safe sex. It can help to stay healthy and aware of sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, AIDS, and many more diseases. Sex education is required to be known by all for proper health and making the economy develop and grow by perfect decisions.

It is important to make sure that there is proper knowledge of sex education among the individuals of the country. Contraception and its measures are required to be known by all individuals because this can help in preventing many diseases which are transmitted sexually. In addition to this, the importance of family planning is required by a developing country like India. Therefore, contraceptive measures are needed to be followed up effectively when there is no requirement for pregnancy in the family. Different kinds of contraception methods are available, therefore one must consult the doctor and decide about which method is suitable for the particular couple to have safe sexual intercourse.
