CPTPP

The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership is one of the largest free trade agreements practiced in the world between several transpacific countries.

The CPTPP is one of the largest free trade practices between several countries. Eleven countries in total  Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam are participating in this partnership. It came into force in the year 2018 that outlined the significance of this agreement. The partnership of these countries delivers security regarding the intellectual property regulation of several laws inclusive of food and security. Most importantly, it aims towards a smoother practice of market policy by negating most of the tariffs and liberalization of visa conditions among the participant countries. CPTPP is headed by Singapore.

Function of CPTPP

CPTPP subdivides its category of benefits into two section, rules and market.

  • Under the section of rules, several measures are undertaken which are associated with the participant countries within their process of governance and inter territorial relations. It outlines the rules upon the policies of safety regulation associated with food sector, assessing the health factors related to particular food items. Some regulations are considered regarding the transference of data between the countries involved in the agreement of partnership. 
  • Accessibility of the market relates to the progressive aspect of the partnership that associates with the process of transaction and deals as will be conducted between two or more participant nations. As per the guidelines, there has been a significant liberalization in the tariffs associated with the market except for certain exclusion. The tariff has only been retained by Japan on their rice production and dairy industry in Canada. Aiming towards easier travel processes, visa conditions has also been eased. 

Importance of CPTPP

  • CPTPP was initially formed inclusive of the US and would have formed the world’s largest financial block contributing to 30% of the entire World’s GDP. Currently, the combined GDP is generating around 13.5 trillion dollars. 
  • CPTPP is an important strategic stance for the Asia-Pacific region. Several measures of beneficence are to be noticed in the participant countries. As is to be noted in the case of Canada aligned with the participants with CUSMA, CETA, and South Korea, it is the only G7 nation with a free router practice with Asia, Europe, and America. 
  • This agreement will also prove to be beneficial for third-world countries like Malaysia and Vietnam, which will be able to explore the trade relationship with the countries benefiting from their rate of growth in economic structure and trade relations with other countries.
  • It will enable the participant countries to have better market access and practice of trade relations that would prove to be economically effective for the food products like seafood, forest products, and industrial goods. It also addresses the issue of the export of pharmaceutical products and cosmetics.
  • The participant of CPTPP will gather contribution and benefits in terms of investments and a strengthen corporate relation
  • Sectors like the automotive industry and biotech along with upcoming modern technologies like the development of AI, metaverse will harness progress by leaps and bounds due to the collaborative and unified approach towards betterment.

Environment and CPTPP

The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership aims towards an eco-friendly approach in terms of conduction of business relations. An environment-friendly approach is undertaken regarding the policies aiming towards the restoration of greenery while protecting the endangerment of environmental factors as faced by the participant nations. Implementation of an eco-friendly method of business transaction and modeling will be ensured by the participant nations. This would especially be beneficial towards the nation rich with flora and fauna like Canada and Vietnam, enabling restoration and protection of greenery and the inhabitant species.

CPTPP is established aiming towards building a strategic relationship between transpacific nations within Asia- pacific nations. This partnership is mainly focused upon the relation between eleven participant nations that aims in building healthy trade-oriented relations. This collaboration has proven to be one of the most beneficial trade relations existent in the world, currently providing around 13% of the entire world GDP. This nation has been beneficial towards the progress and growth of the nations both internally and externally. This relation has proven to be strategically effective to third-world countries involved like Malaysia and Vietnam.
