Parallelogram-Trapezium Kite

Trapezoids are quadrilaterals with one pair of parallel sides that are symmetrical.

Table of Content
  •

When two of the sides of a quadrilateral are parallel, the result is a parallelogram. A parallelogram has equal sides and angles on its opposite sides and angles on its opposite angles. The area of a parallelogram is determined by the length of its base and the height of its height. You can see in the diagram above that AB//CD and AD//BC are used.

Additionally, AB = CD and AD = BC

Furthermore, ∠A =∠C, ∠B =∠D.

Properties of parallelogram:

The following are the various characteristics of a parallelogram:

  • The congruent sides of a parallelogram are the opposite sides of a parallelogram.

  • The parallelogram’s opposing angles are congruent with one another.

  • The angles of a parallelogram that are adjacent to one another are supplementary.

  • The diagonals of a parallelogram are always bisected by the other diagonals.

  • Each diagonal of a parallelogram divides it into two congruent triangles, which are then divided again.

Whenever any one of the angles of a parallelogram is a right angle, then all of the other angles of the parallelogram are also right angles.

Types of parallelogram:

Parallelograms are divided into three types: squares, rectangles, and rhombuses, among others.

Trapezium

Two of the trapezium’s four sides are parallel to one another, making it a type of quadrilateral. Bases are the sides of a trapezium that are parallel to each other, while legs are the sides of a trapezium that are not parallel to each other. The trapezium is also referred to as a trapezoid in some circles. The parallelogram is sometimes referred to as a trapezoid because two of its sides are parallel to one another. We can see in the figure that sides AB and CD are parallel to each other, whereas sides BC and AD are not parallel to each other. The height of the trapezium is represented by the distance between two parallel sides, which is represented by the letter h.

Properties of trapezium:

The following are the various characteristics of a trapezium:

  • In a trapezium, one pair of opposite sides is parallel to the other.

  • The diagonals of the trapezium cross each other.

  • The sides of a trapezium that are not parallel are not equal, except in the case of an isosceles trapezium, which is the case in most cases.

  • It is equal to 360 degrees if the sum of the interior sides of a trapezium is equal to 360 degrees, for example, A + B + C + D = 360°.

  • It is equal to 180° when the sum of two adjacent angles equals 180°. It implies that two angles that are adjacent to each other are supplementary.

  • In the case of an isosceles trapezium, the legs, or non parallel sides, are congruent.

Types of trapezium:

The trapezium is divided into three types, which are as follows:

  1. Trapezium with equal legs or non-parallel sides: An isosceles trapezium has legs or non-parallel sides that are all the same length.

  2. In a scalene trapezium, all of the sides and angles are of varying lengths and widths.

  3. Right trapezium- A right trapezium is a shape that contains at least two straight lines.

Kite

A kite is a quadrilateral having two pairs of contiguous and congruent (equal-length) sides that are arranged in a square shape.

It implies that a kite is a polygon of some sort.

A closed shape is one that has no openings.

A figure in the form of a plane.

Properties of kite:

Here are some of the most important characteristics of a kite:

  • When it comes to angles, a kite is perfectly symmetrical.

  • The two diagonals of a kite are 90 degrees apart and bisect each other.

  • It is possible to divide the main diagonal of a kite by the other diagonal.

  • The kite is divided into two isosceles triangles by the smaller diagonal of the kite.

  • In contrast to this, the kite’s angles are equal, while its unequal sides come together.

  • As a pair of congruent triangles with a common base, the kite can be represented mathematically.

Conclusion:

Trapezoids are quadrilaterals with one pair of parallel sides that are symmetrical. The bases are the parallel sides that run parallel to each other. When two of the sides of a quadrilateral are parallel, the result is a parallelogram. A parallelogram has equal sides and angles on its opposite sides and angles on its opposite angles. The congruent sides of a parallelogram are the opposite sides of a parallelogram.

The parallelogram’s opposing angles are congruent with one another.

Two of the trapezium’s four sides are parallel to one another, making it a type of quadrilateral. Bases are the sides of a trapezium that are parallel to each other, while legs are the sides of a trapezium that are not parallel to each other.

A kite is a quadrilateral having two pairs of contiguous and congruent (equal-length) sides that are arranged in a square shape.

Ans: Every kite is not a parallelogram, for the simple reason that the opposite sides of a kite are not always parallel to one another. Trapezoids are quadrilaterals with one pair of parallel sides that are symmetrical. The bases are the parallel sides that run parallel to each other. When the base angles are equal, the trapezoid is classified as an isosceles trapezoid, which is a special type of trapezoid.

Ans: It is a rhombus if all four sides of the quadrilateral are equal and parallel, whereas a kite is formed when only two pairs of adjacent equal sides are present in the quadrilateral.

Ans: In geometry, a kite is a quadrilateral with exactly two pairs of congruent consecutive sides on each of its four sides. A trapezoid is a quadrilateral that has exactly one pair of parallel sides on each of its four sides. Each of the parallel sides of the triangle is referred to as a base.

Ans: In addition to having two consecutive, congruent sides, a kite also has two consecutive, congruent non-vertex angles, and three perpendicular diagonals.

Ans: Two adjacent pairs of sides have the same value.

One pair of angles that are diametrically opposed is equal.
