Area

In this article, we are going to understand the concept of area, area of triangle, area of Rectangle, area of square etc.

Introduction: The term “area” refers to the space within a closed shape’s boundary or perimeter. Such a shape has at least three sides that are brought together to form a boundary. The “area” formula in mathematics is a symbolic representation of such space.

The area is the space or region enclosed by a closed geometric figure in the two Dimensional (2D) plane. It’s also a quantity that describes the plane extension of a two-dimensional figure, form, or planar lamina. Area formulas are used to determine the amount of space encircled by various geometric forms. The formulas for geometric areas apply to normal geometric figures with defined dimensions.

Now, Let us discuss about the Area Formula For some of different geometrical figures:

  • The Triangle’s Area Formula :A triangle is a closed two-dimensional shape with three straight sides in geometry. A triangle is a polygon as well. The area of a triangle can be computed by determining half of the product of the base and height lengths. The formula for        evaluating the area of a triangle is as follows:

The area of the  triangle is equal to 1/2 x base x height.

  • The Circle Area Formula: A circle is the curve traced out by a point moving in a plane so that its distance from a given point is constant; alternatively, it is the shape formed from all points in a plane that are at a given distance from a given point, the center. The area of a circle can be computed by multiplying pi by the square of the radius. The formula for evaluating              the area of a circle is as follows:

Area of a Circle is equal to the  πr²

  • The Area of Rectangle Formula: A rectangle is a quadrilateral with four right angles in Euclidean plane geometry. It can also be described as an equiangular quadrilateral or a parallelogram with a right angle. A square is the rectangle with sides of four equal lengths. A rectangle’s area is computed by multiplying the length and width of the rectangle. The formula for        evaluating the area of a rectangle is as follows:

Rectangle Area = Length x Width

  • Parallelogram Area Formula: A parallelogram is a simple quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides in Euclidean geometry. A parallelogram’s opposite or facing sides are of equal length, and the parallelogram’s opposite angles are of equal measure. A parallelogram’s area may be computed by multiplying the base and height of the parallelogram. The formula for        evaluating the area of a parallelogram is as follows:

A parallelogram’s area is equal to the sum of its base x height.

  • Rhombus Area Formula: A rhombus is a quadrilateral with four equal-length sides in planar Euclidean geometry. The term equilateral quadrilateral is coined from the fact that all of its sides are the same length. A Rhombus is a Parallelogram with the same length on all four sides. Equilateral quadrilaterals are also known as equilateral quadrilaterals. To calculate the area of a rhombus, find half of the product of its diagonals’ lengths. The formula for evaluate the area of a quadrilateral is as follows:

Rhombus Area = 1/2 x Diagonal 1 x Diagonal2

  • The Trapezoid Area Formula: A trapezium is a two-dimensional quadrilateral with a pair of parallel opposite sides. The base and the non-parallel sides of trapezium are defined as the base and sides of the trapezium, respectively. It has four sides and four corners and is a closed plane shape. A trapezoid’s area equals half of the product of its parallel sides and height. The formula for        evaluating  the area of the trapezoid is as given below:

Area of the Trapezoid is equal to the 1/2 × Sum of Parallel Sides (a + b) × Height(h)

Point to remember:

  • area of a triangle is  1/2 x base x height.
  • Area of a Circle is equal to the  πr²
  • Rectangle Area = Length x Width
  • Area of the Parallelogram =  the sum of its base x height.
  • Rhombus Area = 1/2 x Diagonal 1 x Diagonal2
  • The Area of the Trapezoid = 1/2 × Sum of Parallel Sides (a + b) × Height(h)
