Paper 1 Section A & Section B follow the same marking scheme of +4 and -1.

The marking scheme for Mathematics and Aptitude sections in Paper 2A is same. The Drawing Test is assessed individually on a scale of 100 marks and is not subject to the MCQ/Numerical negative marking scheme.

In the objective and numerical-value parts, Paper 2B follows the +4 and -1 scheme.

How Does Negative Marking Affect the JEE Main Score?

Negative marking means if the candidate gives a wrong answer, he gets minus one mark from total score. So if you don’t understand the questions and try to attempt them, it might affect the final score.

Let's look at the example.

Students have to find the balance between speed and accuracy. In mock tests, keep a track of the wrong attempts and determine whether the mistakes are due to lack of concepts, calculation errors or haste decisions.

What are the Subjects and Topics Covered in JEE Main 2027?

The topics covered in JEE Main are determined by the candidate's chosen paper.

  • Paper 1: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Paper 2A: Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing Test.
  • Paper 2B: Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Planning-Based Questions.

Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Classes 11 and 12 are covered in the syllabus for Paper 1.

Candidates must get ready for mathematics as well as the pertinent aptitude, drawing, or planning component for Paper 2.

Students should refer to the official JEE Main 2027 syllabus to check the prescribed topics instead of relying only on older chapter lists.

How Many Questions are There in JEE Main and Which are Compulsory?

JEE Main Mock Tests 2027

Mock exams form a crucial part of the preparation process as they allow scholars to comprehend the key features of the exam and gain proficiency in completion of questions in the defined period of time.

A good mock test preparation routine is characterized by the following components:

  • Chapter-wise tests: Attempt questions after completing individual chapters.
  • Subject-wise tests: Practise Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics separately.
  • Full-length tests: Attempt complete Paper 1 mock tests under a three-hour time limit.
  • Performance analysis: Review incorrect, skipped and time-consuming questions.
  • Revision: Revisit weak topics before attempting another test.

Students having the aim to participate in B.Arch or B.Planning programs should conduct the specific sections in their papers that concern these specializations.

B.Arch candidates should include drawing practice, while B.Planning candidates should practice questions related to planning.

JEE Resources for Beginners

First and foremost, students embarking on this journey will need to familiarize themselves with the curriculum, the exam pattern, as well as the differences between JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

An effective planning would require the following steps:

  1. Study the JEE Main syllabus thoroughly and find out which topics need to be mastered within each one of the subjects covered by JEE.
  2. Gain a solid understanding of every concept taught in Physics as well as Chemistry and Mathematics.
  3. Make a realistic study schedule that would cover your daily and weekly studies.
  4. Once a particular topic is completed, make sure that you practice questions concerning it.
  5. Review previous years tests in order to see how exams are typically designed.
  6. Take some mock tests and evaluate your performance.

Students can use the following Unacademy resources:

A study planner can also help students track daily targets, completed chapters and revision schedules. The most effective planner is one that is realistic and updated regularly.
